MISIA PETA’S LEGACY:

Hilda Calderón (née Velezmoro), aka Misia Peta, passed away December 16, 2013, but her need to constantly keep busy improving the lives of her family—whether preparing & decorating perfect meals or creating a gamut of beautiful handcrafts–continues on through her children and their families.

Her children are multi-tasking, over-achievers. (Scroll down to see what I mean). Let’s just say, Misia Peta’s progeny are a gifted and multi-talented bunch!

*** SweetMelon Studio (Artist-Owner)

“The goal of SweetMelon Studio is to spread the joy and energy of artful objects to a larger Audience.  Sometimes, a piece, such as a framed composition, may serve a mostly decorative purpose.  At other times, the piece may also be functional, as is the case with my Pillows and Clocks.  What is true at all times, however, is that each artful object is handmade, original and certain to fascinate.”—Luis Calderon

*** Fernando the Artist:

Fernando has created sculptures from a wide range of materials including: wood, bronze, iron, marble, ceramics, paper, gold and silver.

“Mahogany, Cherry and Maple are some of my favorite materials. The view I have of my work is influenced by the colors and textures of these woods.

My furniture has many pieces, like a puzzle, with hours of dedication to the form and placement of each piece. The wood is cut, glued, carved, sanded and finished. I like a contrast in my pieces by using other types of wood. Details are all precisely designed necessities that allow me to transform my work.”                                   —Fernando Calderon
